As the end of 2019 draws closer and Christmas approaches, I wanted to take the time to present a newly released role with one of my key clients in the London area. So put down your mince pie (or alternative but similarly tasty food item) and take a couple of minutes to read through this ad - I promise I will keep it short and sweet!
One of my longstanding clients (cliche opening I know!) is looking to recruit an experienced Software Leader to spearhead a new API-driven technology team in the New Year. The role is part of a 2019 recruitment drive and is strategically crucial due to its level of seniority and the business area it operates in.
The organisation in question operate in the payments space, growing substantially since they were founded in 2008 with them now providing a market-leading suite of products to a Global customer base. They offer free fruit, coffee etc but if you're reading this then you are likely a technology professional, so you don't care about all that do you? What you care about is their tech function, something i'd argue is their biggest sell.
First and foremost, they consider themselves to be a 'proper Software Engineering house', operating a quality-first approach to solution development with a focus on Agile evangelism, product development and technical consultancy. They have a relaxed and open-minded approach to technology, focusing on a range of technology areas rather than being limited to just one, with their senior team encouraging a culture of R&D.
Your role will encompass all of those things (and many more), ultimately seeing you take ownership and control of their integration piece, working closely with their customers to ensure an exceptional integration experience. You will initially take control of a team of 3 Integration Consultants, working to help new partners complete integrations and providing high-level and tailored support to existing partners.
Your role would then evolve, seeing you take up a role as an 'evangelist of their technology', working to build out their current Software Developer community whilst also continuing to build partnerships with new customers around the world.
But enough about them, this ad is all about you. Specifically, what you need to bring to the table to be considered for this role...
Software Development - first and foremost, they require somebody with a Software Development background. They need somebody who can liaise with technical stakeholders, specifically Software Developers, so a background working across a range of programming languages/frameworks is preferred.
Stakeholder Management - due to the nature of this role (i.e. integrating with partners), proven stakeholder-facing experience is an essential requirement. Your role will encompass consulting and you will be expected to engage with both technical and commercially-minded stakeholders throughout. Strong communications skills are therefore essential to be considered for this role.
Leadership - finally, strong leadership and people management experience is crucial as this role will begin and end with both. Although you will be initially leading a small team (x3 Integration Consultants), the scope for this will grow with the idea being that you recruit and expand that number to double figures.
